Acoustic Piano Sales | New & Used

Convert Grand Piano | Fort Bend Music CenterAn acoustic piano is a non-electric, musical instrument played by means of a set of keys.  As one of the most popular instruments in the world, pianos are normally used to generate classical music for solo performances, ensemble use, chamber music and general accompaniment. Although not portable and often expensive, the piano’s versatility have made it one of the world’s most familiar musical instruments.

An acoustic piano generates sound when keys are pressed on a keyboard causing a felt-covered hammer to strike the piano strings. The hammers bounce, allowing the strings to continue vibrating at their resonant frequency. These vibrations are transmitted through a bridge to a sounding board that more-efficiently couples the acoustic energy to the air. When the key is released, a damper stops the string’s vibration.

Fort Bend Music Center carries top of the line pianos including Yamaha, Bösendorfer and more. Our pre-owned inventory of acoustic pianos contains a much broader list of brands. We also carry many different body styles of pianos including upright/vertical, grands, and digital/electric pianos.
